Lakeside Garden Club of Bridgton ME is a nonprofit organization currently with 53 members. Our objectives as a club are to encourage interest in all phases of gardening, to aid in the protection and conservation of natural resources, and to promote civic beauty and to educate the public. Fundraising helps us accomplish these goals and benefits our scholarship fund for local schools, community park improvements in the four towns, and the Butterfly Habitat Garden at the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber Commerce on Rt. 302.
Our club activities include the Plant Sale in June, Community Gardens’ maintenance, Flower Shows, summer tours of members’ gardens, Garden Therapy for residents at the Bridgton Health Care Center, , tours of the Butterfly Habitat Garden (which is on the Maine Garden Tour circuit), educational speakers and hands-on-workshops. These activities help to promote civic awareness in our local environment among members as well as providing education and rewarding personal relationships.
Membership and Meetings:
Qualification for membership is an active interest in gardening with annual dues set at $15.00. Calendar year is June through May with 12 monthly meetings. Most meetings are held on the third Monday evening, 7:00 pm at the Bridgton Community Center on Depot
Street. Guests are welcome. Contact 1st Vice President, Teddy Apostle Deam

We're WINNERS!! The Lakeside Garden Club garnered FIRST PLACE (that would be a Blue Ribbon!) in Maine's largest agricultural fair! Hooray!
Our prize is $75.00 for the club . . . not bad, huh? Our competitor, Saco Valley Garden Club, had a lovely display, but ours has lots of flowers and plants, is more educational, and has majestic butterflies!! How could we not win?!
"The A-B-Cs of Gardening" (Annuals, Butterflies, and Compost) was fun and easy to assemble, thanks to the assistance of Madelyn Litz (our new member!), Ginny Halligan, Margaret Reimer, Bobbi Cardone and Susan Wallace. Elsa Freeman donated four big "mums" that added lots of autumn color and Eleanore Parker's unique garden props supplied 'country' charm to the exhibit. Thanks ladies!
