PROJECTS:
Osewantha maintains flower beds along the Spring Point Shoreway in South Portland and at Old Settlers' Cemetery on the campus of SMCC.

Provides monthly flower arrangements at the South Portland Public Library and donates flower arrangements to the South Portland Community Center.

An annual Greens Party is held in December where members create their own Christmas decorations and centerpieces for the Preble Street Resource Center in Portland.

An annual plant sale is held in June at Millcreek Shopping Center in South Portland.

Osewantha Garden club was organized in South Portland on September 28, 1934 and joined the Garden Club Federation of Maine on April 29, 1936.  Current membership is 34 members from South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Gorham and Falmouth.
Osewantha generally meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 P.M. at the South Portland Community Center.  Business meetings are followed by programs covering Horticulture, floral design, environmental and other issues of interest to gardeners.
A newsletter is mailed to members in August and January highlighting activities of the club, the Stroudwater District and the GCFM.

March 19, 2008         ~ Hands on table setting designs or "Art in Bloom" interpretation

April 2, 2008             ~ 1st of two creative design workshops with Cape Elizabeth Garden Club at St. Bartholomew Church in Cape Elizabeth.  Instructors:  GCFM Judges Nancy Atwell and Candi Oliver

April 16, 2008          ~ 2nd of two creative design workshops with Cape Elizabeth Garden Club at South Portland Community Center

May 7, 2008            ~ Osewantha Annual Meeting at the Good Table Restaurant in Cape Elizabeth.  Amy Witt of University of Maine Cooperative Extension will speak on plants to attract birds and butterflies and will introduce new 2008 plants.
