Camden Garden Club Dedicates Children's Amphitheater

Saturday, August 22nd, was a perfect morning for the dedication of the new Children's Amphitheater at Laite Beach as many gathered to learn about the project from its conception to its completion.  Sherry Cobb introduced Nick Sturtevant who is responsible for the idea and the construction of the amphitheater.  Other contributors involved in the construction are Lindley Knight of J.R.A. Landscaping, and Jon and Karen Smith of Rockers.  The engraving on the podium stone was done by Bob Williams of Brooks Monuments.

Following the dedication Chris Van Dusen read two of his stories: "Down by the Sea with Mr. McGee" and "If I Built a Car."  Children's librarian Amy Hand followed with two stories and a flower-making craft.

The amphitheater is the most recent of many gifts from the Garden Club to the town of Camden and made possible from the proceeds from their House and Garden Tour held annually on the 3rd Thursday in July.
