GCFM Youth Awards

GCFM YOUTH AWARDS

Deadline April 1 (unless noted otherwise)

1.           Certificates of Merit may be awarded annually to Junior, Intermediate and High School Gardeners who have been most successful in promoting all phases of garden club work. Based on the Scale of Points for NGC Award #33. Applications made to GCFM Youth Activities Chairman.

2.     Marion Watson Davis Award: A certificate and a ribbon may be awarded annually to an individual or a club for outstanding work in Junior and/or Intermediate Garden club work.  Submit to Youth Activities Chairman.

3.           Environmental Awards: Certificates may be award annually to Junior, Intermediate or High School gardener Clubs for worthy projects. A Book of Evidence is submitted to the GCFM Youth Chairman.

 

4.   High School and Speech ad Essay Awards (refer to NGC Essay contest in Sept/Oct issue of The National Gardener in the odd numbered year). Deadline: October 15.

5.        Junior, Intermediate and High School Gardener's Award: A certificate and a ribbon may be awarded annually to Junior, Intermediate or High School Gardeners for an outstanding project.

6.        Phyllis C. Lewis Traveling Trophy: Awarded annually to the GCFM club that develops the best program for children to promote interest in any facet of nature, horticulture or conservation. Clubs should write a brief report on their project, including any substantiating information such as photographs, newspaper clippings, charts or student work as appropriate to the project.

7.        Muriel Soule Junior Conservation Award: A certificate and a ribbon awarded annually for an outstanding conservation project by a youth group.

8.        The Thompson-Lyford Youth Award: Presented annually to a Junior Garden club for the best community related project. A certificate and cash award ( not less than $25.00) will be awarded at the GCFM Convention.

Applications for above awards to be sent to the GCFM Youth Activities Chairman.
