The Stella J. Dearborn Award
The Stella J. Dearborn Award for the Best All Around GCFM Gardener.
Judging of application to be done in conference by the following GCFM Chairmen: Horticulture and Conservation and Native Plants. Donor to provide plaque and annual trophy. Each winner to keep trophy; winner's name to be engraved on plaque kept by GCFM President.
Application to be:
Twelve photographs or fewer
One written page not larger than 8 ½ x 11" to include: does owner have professional help of any kind; types and sizes of gardens; location of garden (address); signature of garden club president as assurance that the gardens are as described and owner is a club member.
Application must also include garden plan/ design - drawn to scale 1/4' = 1". Not necessary to include all plant cultivars grown.
Application will include information on garden for previous year.
Points to be awarded for the following
Growing of fruit trees 10
Growing of vegetables 10
Growing of berries 10
Growing of Perennials 10
Growing of annuals 10
Growing Organically 20
Compost pile/bins 10
Mulch on gardens 10
Good pruning techniques 5
Distinction 5
Total points 100
