Club Information The Scarborough Garden Club was founded in 1975. The club meets at 12:30 pmon the 3rd Thursday of the month at The Hillcrest Retirement Community Recreation Center.

Meetings are held September thru April except January and are open to the public. The May and June meetings are for members only.

Projects of the club include maintaining the gardens at the historic Hunnewell House as well as the Garden of Hope at the Scarborough Campus of The Maine Medical Center. Every month we make flower arrangements for residents of the Pine Point Center, a nursing home located in Scarborough.

The club awards a scholarship to a Middle School students to attend The Environmental Camp at Bryant Pond, ans a scholarship to a student in the Horticulture Program at Southern Maine Community College. We make donations to many local organizations as well as the National Garden Federation.

An annual plant sale held the first Saturday in June is the principal fund raiser to support these many programs. The SGC is well known in the area for our beautiful, healthy locally grown plants as well as our Green Elephant Sale featuring gently used tools, pots, and books as well as decorative garden accessories.
Club Programs Our 2019 fall meetings will be at 12:30 in the basement of the First Congregational Church, 167 Black Point Road, Scarborough. These meetings are free and open to the public.

Sept. 19 Slide show of members’ gardens. (Lunch)

Oct. 17 Amy Witt, Director of Earth Walkers, will give a talk titled “Gardening is for Birds and Other Wildlife, too.” (Light refreshments)

Nov. 21 Gary Fish, Maine State Horticulturist, will tell is about bad invasive plants in Maine. (Light refreshments)

Our annual plant sale and green elephant sale will be on June 5, 2020 from 8 am to 11 am at the Hunnewell House on the corner of Black Point Road and Winnocks Neck Road, Scarborough. Rain or shine.
