Award # 8, The Mildred Black Pettit Award with the Largest Percentage Increase in New Members.

The Harpswell Garden club was awarded two awards:
Excellence in Teamwork Award #24 for an outstanding project completed by a Garden Club in Collaboration with another organization.  This was given for their teamwork in establishing a Memorial Garden at the Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine.  This project was started in 1968 and continues today.  A second garden was created and dedicated in 1972.

The Sears Civic Beautification Award #1 for their work to maintain the Harpswell Historical Park's seven gardens and to add a bench for the public to rest and enjoy the park. In 1994 the Club collaborated with the Harpswell Historical Society to move a building (Centennial Hall) to the park site.  In 1996, the Harpswell Garden Club rejuvenated the park by creating seven distinct gardens.  Today, the Chairman of the Historic Park Gardens and a team captain for each of the seven gardens work to maintain them.

Award #19, Lina F. Wagner Perennial Garden Award and $100 was presented to Harriet Robinson, Foothills Garden Club and Stroudwater District Director for her magnificent perennial gardens.  It is a garden that grows because of the love given by Harriet.
