CALL TO THE 88TH ANNUAL GCFM CONVENTION

The Piscataqua District looks forward to hosting you at the 88th Annual Garden Club Federation of Maine Convention on June 18th and 19th at the Village by the Sea Resort and Conference Center, 1373 Post Road in Wells, Maine!  "Bringing Communities Together Through Gardening" is the theme.

If you haven't made your room reservation at the Resort, you're running out of time.  The deadline to get the Convention rate for either a one or two-bedroom condo is MAY 18TH.  Contact the Resort at 207-646-1100 or 800-444-8862.  One-bedroom condos are $129 per night and two-bedroom condos are $149 per night plus tax.  You'll be able to save money on breakfast and pack a lunch for the garden tour since all condos have a full kitchen.  Make sure to tell the Resort you're with the GCFM to get the special Convention room rate.

The Registration deadline to attend the Convention is MAY 27TH so make sure to get your Registration Form in now!  Visit our website at www.mainegardenclubs.org and click on the link contained in the bird house photo on our HOME PAGE that says REGISTER FOR CONVENTION.

Attendees who sign up for the Garden Tour will have the opportunity to visit six lovely gardens and at one, hear a presentation by author and farm to table gardener Mort Mather whose garden is on the tour.  You'll also have the chance to visit the beautiful gardens of members of the GCFM as well as the those of a local antiques store.  If you aren't able to go on the tour, you can take in a workshop at the Resort -- one offered by GCFM member Mary Saltmarsh who has a long-standing business in pressed flowers, or a yoga class offered by Convention Chairman Sue Luby.

Be sure to sign up for our evening banquet where you'll hear horticulturist and garden blogger John Forti tell us how we can "Eat Your Yard"!  Prior to the banquet you'll enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres  in the gardens of the Resort.  Then at our Annual Meeting the next day, you'll enjoy a luncheon with Martha Chiarchiaro sharing images with us on "Floral Images Through the Ages."  The day is topped off with the election and installation of our new officers for the 2019-2021 term as well as the presentation of awards given to our member clubs.

Don't miss out on the event of the year!  See you in Wells.
