SUMMARY:GCFM Open Garden #3 - Cape Neddick
DESCRIPTION:Join GCFM members from across the state for our third and final Open Garden of the year in Cape Neddick. Former GCFM president\, Becky Linney\, is opening her property\, the former Groundnut Hill Nurseries Inc.\, created by her late husband David Linney\, as a wholesale business supplying hardy woody and ornamental plant material for the green industry in Maine and New Hampshire. This former nursery\, established in 1972\, now has fields with mature trees\, shrubs\, perennial plantings\, garden rooms\, and rolling landscapes in harmony with natural and designed granite hardscapes. The newest project is a new parterre garden using granite\, iron architectural salvage\, and crushed stone. \nThe morning session will feature floral design demonstrations by Helene Lewand\, owner of Blackrock Farm in Kennebunkport\, and Dianne Bullock\, past president of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. The afternoon speakers will be from the Seacoast Horticultural Society\, organized in 2011 by a group of regional horticultural professionals from NHLA\, NHCLP\, UNH\, NENA\, and MELNA. \nCome rain or shine! Barns on the property will provide cover. A donation of $10 is requested for GCFM. Driving directions will be sent in a reminder email closer to the date.  Bring a chair\, lunch\, and water. Please dress appropriately for walking and exploring the property\, according to the forecast. Bring your boots\, sunscreen\, and insect and tick repellent! SUMMARY:GCFM Open Garden #2 - Otisfield
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow garden club members from across the state for our second Open Garden of the year at the home of GCFM Past President\, Harriet Robinson in Otisfield. You’ve been teased over the past two years as Harriet detailed her gardening tasks month by month in Maine Grows\, the GCFM members-only horticultural newsletter. Harriet’s garden has been featured in Downeast magazine and Fine Gardening’s “Garden Photo of the Day”.  Harriet is a past winner of the Stella Dearborn Award for the best GCFM gardener.  Her garden is in a rural setting with mountain views and features over 100 daylily cultivars\, along with many other perennials.  She enjoys trying all sorts of plants\, so you’ll see annuals\, vegetables\, and more…plus\, beehives and chicks!  Bring a chair\, bring your lunch\, bring your cameras/phones\, put on your sunscreen\, and enjoy the beautiful gardens! \nBrent McHale\, a horticulturist at Coastal Maine Botanical Garden\, will speak on garden maintenance at 11 a.m.  A flower arranging session on using creative containers titled\, “Oh! Look What I Found.”\, will take place at 1 p.m. with Sabrina Warner of St. Mary’s Garden Club. \nMembers\, please see your email which should be circulated by your club for directions and parking info.  A $10 donation is requested at the entrance to help cover costs.

SUMMARY:Camden Garden Club's 75th Annual Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Tour will take place rain or shine at various gardens throughout Camden and includes a retrospective gardening exhibit\, special events\, and new attractions for ticket holders. \nFrom expansive seaside garden estates to small bungalow side yards\, the Tour aims to spotlight the very best examples of individual gardens in Camden. \nThis year\, six private gardens will be showcased featuring a variety of landscaping\, planting styles\, and architectural structures\, with a modern emphasis on sustainable horticulture and native plantings. \nTickets will include immersive gardenside performances by local award-winning musicians\, local confectionary treats\, flower arranging demonstrations\, the chance to win a painting done en plein air throughout the day by Maine artist Alexandra Perry-Weiss\, and access to a free public month-long retrospective Garden Tour exhibit at the Camden Public Library. \n \n\nTICKET PICKUP\nTickets purchased online ($40/person) will be picked up the day of the event at the Camden Public Landing. The Camden Public Landing is located in downtown Camden on the water in the parking lot in front of the Camden office for the Penobscot Bay Area Chamber of Commerce (2 Public Landing\, Camden) where our ticket pickup table will be set up. More instructions will be provided in advance of the event.
