11 am – PROGRAM:  Lisa Lagrange – Professional Certified Florist, Maine Master Floral Designer
Co-owner, Jellison Traders, Augusta  (Antiques/Vintage)
Three time winner of the Maine State Floral Designer of the Year competition, Lisa will demonstrate how to create fall arrangements from your garden gleanings!
Following her demonstration, the arrangements will be auctioned off and proceeds will benefit the GCFM scholarship fund.

1 pm – PROGRAM:  Mary Yurlina, Maine Dept. of Agriculture,
Conservation and Forestry (DACF) Agricultural PFAS Specialist
Maine DACF began investigating PFAS contamination at farms in 2016 when milk, water, and soil at a dairy in Arundel was found to contain high levels of PFOS. Contamination was linked to the application of biosolids (sludge) on farmland. This presentation will provide an overview of the Maine’s examination of PFAS contamination on farms and share some of the challenges DACF has encountered as well as success stories for farms coping with PFAS. Sources of PFAS contamination for the Maine homesteader and gardener will be discussed as well as what we’ve been learning about PFAS uptake into plants and animal products and the relative risks they represent.
