GCFM Open Garden #2 – Otisfield

July 25, 2023 at 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join fellow garden club members from across the state for our second Open Garden of the year at the home of GCFM Past President, Harriet Robinson in Otisfield. You’ve been teased over the past two years as Harriet detailed her gardening tasks month by month in Maine Grows, the GCFM members-only horticultural newsletter. Harriet’s garden has been featured in Downeast magazine and Fine Gardening’s “Garden Photo of the Day”.  Harriet is a past winner of the Stella Dearborn Award for the best GCFM gardener.  Her garden is in a rural setting with mountain views and features over 100 daylily cultivars, along with many other perennials.  She enjoys trying all sorts of plants, so you’ll see annuals, vegetables, and more…plus, beehives and chicks!  Bring a chair, bring your lunch, bring your cameras/phones, put on your sunscreen, and enjoy the beautiful gardens!

Brent McHale, a horticulturist at Coastal Maine Botanical Garden, will speak on garden maintenance at 11 a.m.  A flower arranging session on using creative containers titled, “Oh! Look What I Found.”, will take place at 1 p.m. with Sabrina Warner of St. Mary’s Garden Club.

Members, please see your email which should be circulated by your club for directions and parking info.  A $10 donation is requested at the entrance to help cover costs.
