Why Join A club

Joining a garden club connects gardeners with gardeners. When you join a club that is part of the Garden Club Federation of Maine (GCFM), you are automatically part of a huge network of gardeners…GCFM, New England Garden Clubs, and National Garden Clubs. Every level offers opportunities!

When you join a local club, you will have opportunities to visit public gardens, greenhouses and nurseries, and many amazing private gardens in Maine to get ideas for your own garden spaces.

The GCFM is comprised of clubs from across Maine. Each club is unique and determines their own meeting schedules and programming, based on members’ interests. Some clubs are interested in perennials or vegetables, some enjoy hands-on projects, while others prefer conservation topics or floral design workshops. Find a club near you in our directory! You may also contact the GCFM to find out how to organize a club (it’s easy!). Clubs that join the GCFM have a world of gardening opportunities available to them!

Community Involvement

Caring for our environment and beautifying our communities makes them better places for us all to live. While each club determines their own projects, most do help in multiple ways in towns and cities across Maine. From containers and gardens in public spaces to flowers on trays for Meals on Wheels, garden club members make a difference. Horticulture scholarships, conservation camperships, and the Blue Star Marker program honoring fallen heroes are all ways in which garden club contribute to their communities.
